The Horizon is Still There

Water has a way of widening the chest.

The horizon stretches farther than fear expects.

Even restless waves keep a steady rhythm.

Many of us learned to live as though the future were always shrinking.

As though possibility had narrowed.

As though mercy might run out.

As though hope was fragile and easily misplaced.

Shrinking trains people to watch for endings.

To scan for exits.

To expect disappointment before it arrives.

But Jesus keeps lifting people’s eyes.

He leads them toward horizons again.

He refuses to let the future collapse into what has already hurt.

Stopping shrinking sometimes looks like believing tomorrow still exists.

That grace has not dried up.

That mercy keeps moving toward you.

There are seasons when your imagination for good has gone quiet.

When prayer feels think.

When expectation hurts too much.

Jesus does not shame weary hope.

He stands beside water with tired people.

He keeps pointing outward.

If today all you can manage is to look up instead of down, that counts.

If you take in one wider breath of possibility, that is faith.

If you allow yourself to imagine goodness again, that is healing.

The horizon is still there.

Because Christ is still faithful.
