Where did your focus go this week?

To the yes you gave when everything in you meant no.
To the person who’s upset, again, and somehow it became your job to fix it.
Meanwhile, the things that matter most got whatever was left. Which wasn’t much.
You’re not failing. Your heart is just full.
This usually happens to the people with the biggest hearts.
The helpers. The strong ones. The ones everyone counts on.
You love Jesus. You know you’re free in Christ. You could probably quote John 8:36 from memory. But somewhere along the way, you learned to put yourself last and call it faithfulness.

And it leaves you tired in a way rest doesn’t fix.
SAME SEED. DIFFERENT SOIL.
You don’t need to hear it again. You need room to receive it.
Jesus told a story about a farmer who scattered seed everywhere. Same seed. Some of it grew. Some got choked out by thorns: “the cares of the world” (Matthew 13:22).
The seed was never the problem. The crowding was. That’s why “you’re chosen” and “you’re free” don’t stick. Your heart is full of guilt, approval, replayed conversations, and everyone else’s needs.
Your heart isn’t bad soil. It’s crowded soil.
And crowded soil can be cleared.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
JOHN 8:36
Freedom isn’t something you earn. You just need room to receive it, and walk in it.

Meet Deanna
I know this, because I lived it.
I was the strong one, the fixer, the mediator. I said yes when I meant no. I held everything together and wondered why I felt so far from the joy I was supposed to have.
I’d heard who I was in Christ more times than I could count. I just didn’t have room to receive it.
Until I did. I did the work to make room, and God did what only He can do.
Learning my identity in Christ, and the freedom He gives, changed everything: my perspective, how I heal, and how I live. I haven’t arrived. I’m still walking it out. But I decided where my focus goes, and it made room for God to do what only He can do.
